Dos remasterizaciones parecidas pero no idénticas, según tímpanos, equipo y sala y las diferencias pueden ser mínimas o "no tan mínimas".... aconsejo comparar al principio y al final (ahí "las diferencias" pueden resultar más evidentes); la diferencia de "niveles" es pequeña y no he considerado necesario igualar. La numeración de temas está perfectamente diferenciada entre ellas así que es muy sencilla la comparación......

The 2-CD Westworld, the fourth release of the Pink Floyd label Sigma, is an outstanding recording of the very popular soundboard recording of the live show at the Fillmore West in San Francisco, CA on April 29th, 1970, which had been previously released numerous times on CD on titles such as Interstellar Encore (Pigs on the Wing OMS 002/3), Pink Pigs Over Fillmore West (Euro Boots EB-30), Magic Makes The World Go Round (Moonage Daydream Records), and Fillmore (Highland HL642/643). On each of the first 3 titles, approx. the first 3 minutes of “Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun” are unfortunately missing, as it starts with a fade-in. On Sigma’s Westworld and Highland’s Fillmore, however, these first 3 minutes of “Set The Controls” have been patched in from a slightly inferior recording to make it complete, as one can hear the sound quality suddenly improve a little at approx. 3:00 into the track.
So at least we have the complete show without any edits.

As for the sound quality of Sigma’s Westworld, it’s certainly superb, but unfortunately doesn’t seem to be any better than that of Highland’s Fillmore, which seems to be only a very slight upgrade over the other 3 titles mentioned above (the last one, Moonage Daydream Records’ Magic Makes The World Go Round, has a normalization issue since its bonus tracks are noticeably louder than those of its Fillmore West ‘70 show). In fact, if given a choice between Sigma’s Westworld and Highland’s Fillmore, I would probably choose the latter over the former because it seems to sound a tiny bit crisper. Other than that, any noticeable or significant differences between the two couldn’t be identified.

As most Floyd fans know, this excellent early ‘70 performance was actually concluded with 2 brilliant encores, “A Saucerful of Secrets” and “Interstellar Overdrive”, and the latter is actually not from the same soundboard source as the rest of the show, unfortunately being sourced from an audience recording of that same night. But the drop-off in sound quality going from “Saucerful” to “Interstellar” is only so slightly that it may even go unnoticed by some listeners.
The artwork of Westworld is fine, with Sigma having used classy-looking glossy inserts again.
But overall it’s recommended only to those who are looking for the complete version of “Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun” that includes its first 3 minutes and/or sound quality that’s just a little bit better than that of the earlier releases, such as the 3 titles mentioned above. Or, if you’re like (actress) Nancy McKeon and don’t even have the Fillmore West ‘70 show at all in your personal collection, then you shouldn’t wait to get Sigma’s Westworld, or Highland’s Fillmore as an alternative choice that’s pretty much just as great, if not a tiny bit greater. Esto (y bastante más de lo "subido"...) se vende (o se ha vendido) en Amazon, es de uno de esos "sellos discográficos falsarios, sin derechos"..... pero.... hacen caja....... ES UNA GRABACIÓN LIBRE.

Por cierto en la mayor parte de los casos "esos" utilizan un soporte CD de muy baja calidad (no todos son iguales) con unos "quemados" a inmensa velocidad.... si se escuchan con "una cierta frecuencia" acaban dando problemas.

En Amazon JAMÁS veréis  un "Silver Disc, original con soporte de calidad y "quemado cuidado" de p.e. Thin Man Records.... esos valen una pasta en tiendas "especializadas y selectas", lo se por experiencia y por VISA. Eso sí el de Thin Man lo tendrás en Amazon bajo el "sello" Cutre Records INC" con una calidad "infame" al poco que le des al "play" en el reproductor; si lo pasas al PC "al galope" la cosa ya mejora y no se deteriora, el soporte es una p.m. de "duración limitada en perfectas audiciones"

TODAS las grabaciones "live" de sellos discográficos "raros" que veáis en Amazon son mayormente piratas de bootlegs originales (¿suena raro no?) que se consiguen (en digital, sin soporte físico) a coste CERO, que es exactamente lo que estoy subiendo aquí (antes lo he descargado de donde se puede descargar, y llevan muchos años en ello sin problemas... porque son cuidadosos con lo que "se ofrece") SIN DELINQUIR.

Llevo muchos años en esto (desde finales de los noventa, cuando me cosqué con Archive.org); por cierto he visto conciertos "libres" en Archive vendidos en Amazon por "Manos Arriba Records". Tengo un enorme callo porque "amo el live puro y duro"........ sin adulterar, "remasterizar" NO es adulterar, que los músicos (u otros contratados, que de todo ha habido) se pasen por el estudio a re-grabar SÍ lo es, y ni olvido ni perdono a quien le parezca "chachi" porque "suena mejor".... eso lo he leído en este foro y jamás lo olvidaré..... no doy más datos para no "meterme en problemas ni traspasárselos / dárselos a la Administración".

A mi lo único que realmente me importa es la música (el equipo es secundario, aunque con el tiempo me he hecho con uno bastante apañado, ¡son los tímpanos... amigo!) y ahí sí que tengo "muy severos límites de aguante" (excluyo a géneros, intérpretes, grupos, agrupaciones....), especialmente en "el magreo / sobado descarado" (de tapadillo, sin decir hemos pasado por el estudio) del directo..... lo recalco porque es muy importante aquí.... por esto estoy subiendo lo que subo.......

La grabación va entera, con todo, y es de escucha I M P R E S C I N D I B L E,  acaba con "movida dentro", cuando lo vi en Madrid en octubre de 1974 (con el dictador fascistoide aún vivo) dentro era una "comunión de emociones democráticas", los asistentes (El Monumental "a reventar") terminamos llorando de pura emoción" (habría unas tres series, o ¿fueron cuatro?, de "bises", con dos / tres canciones cada una. él estaba tanto o más emocionado que nosotros), fuera nos esperaban "los grises"........

Me has pillado con este John Prine. Un tipo que solo me suena el nombre, aunque reconozco que en general ni el country-folk y a medias la "americana" son mis géneros.
Lo curioso entre tanta burrada de conciertos que te estás pegando, no haya ninguno ( o se me ha escapado?) de Little Feat. Auténticos musicazos, envidia de muchos y hasta copiados-boicoteados por otros más estelares y vendedores por la época.

Tengo varios directos en vinilo y alguno raro en 2cd de radio y no es que especialmente quiera más "mandanga", solo es la extrañeza de no verlos por aquí.
No creo que estén en tu lista negra de los "imponibles", musicalmente están muy por encima de otros con más renombre (y ventas).

Se nota que soy fan?  

Y perdona de antemano si he metido la pata y se me han escapado, pero suelo mirar, aunque no descargue por ahora, todo los que pones.

Muchas gracias por vuestro apoyo y participación, no es preocupéis por descargar ya que los conciertos se mantendrán durante muchísimo tiempo (años espero) y tengo pendiente realizar una hoja excell que permitirá buscar por diferentes ordenaciones (artista / numeración / fecha de subida....), me tomará su tiempo montarla pero se hará en un plazo razonable....

Referente a Little Feat, parece que hayas tenido una intuición porque ayer mismo descargué unos 15 conciertos de ellos además de 30 de la Jefferson y 10 de Quicksilver ya que quiero hacer / montar un "especial Frisco-L.A."... lo tengo todo sin descomprimir los archivos Zip o Rar y hoy me voy a poner a ello (conjuntamente con otros 25 o 30 conciertos muy variado) un vez descomprimidos a FLAC les doy una primera oreja para ver lo que "a bote pronto" se queda, o se elimina por "calidad de grabación no admisible" y pasan "al departamento correspondiente" en donde se les irá dando "otra vuelta" respecto a la grabación y a la interpretación....

Hoy me dedicare más a "trabajo de campo" y no subiré tantos conciertos como otros días, en realidad "tiraré" de lo pre-seleccionado para ayer.....

"This was a show that I recorded with Tom in December of 1976 that was originally broadcast on WNEW during my first sojourn at the station. I played this one-hour rare tape tonight as my contribution to the station's "From The Archives Weekend." Tom and I, and drummer Ralph Ebler, taped this at a recording studio in town - Tom at the piano, Ralph on snare drum and hi-hat; it was unrehearsed, unscripted and totally cool! This is the first time the show has been aired in its entirety since the original broadcast almost 20 years ago." - Vin Scelsa

I'm listing this as an FM recording, because I don't know for sure that it isn't; there is no 19 KHz pilot tone on it to identify it as an FM recording.
The original files ran at the wrong speed, and there was a pretty serious channel imbalance. I corrected the pitch to A=440, matched the levels and ran phase correction on the whole program, then resplit the tracks and converted to FLAC.

This show has been posted to TTD one other time, on 10-08-07 by Flick, as a transfer from an 8-track cartridge, which he says was captured in mono due to poor reception, and he did some noise reduction on it due to massive tape hiss, and there were some dropouts and tape damage. It's also missing the last two songs. The version I'm posting sounds as close to perfect as you are likely to get, and it includes the two extra songs.

Artwork is included.
